Going a Long Way

Manon has always been unstoppable when a goal is in sight. While attending a local grade school in her native Germany, she was transferred to an American International School in Frankfurt as part of the program. The contrast between the two educational systems was an eye-opening experience. She was particularly impressed by the amount of attention American teachers gave their students. And the more young Manon immersed herself in the American way of life, the more intrigued she became with the far-off land. Eventually she returned to the German educational system, where she completed high school, but she carried a big slice of American culture with her. Manon soon decided that somehow, some way she would one day call the United States her permanent home.

That day came years later after Manon and her husband decided to raise their young daughters in the United States. “There were a million things to take care of before we left,” she recalls. “So many hoops to jump through. But I wasn’t about to give up until I got here.” After months of pushing and pulling, she finally reached the destination of her dreams. Fortunately, Manon’s perseverance went a long way to helping her thrive in a whole new world. She even made it all the way through college, graduating summa cum laude, with four kids, one of whom was born during the timely week of Spring Break.
